- Liege waffles are smaller, richer, denser, sweeter, and chewier. It was invented by the chef on the prince-bishop of Liege in the 18th century as an adaptation of brioche bread dough. One of the ingredients are chunks of pearl sugar which caramelize on the outside of the waffle when baked. They’re perfectly delicious plain as it is with toppings.
- Today the Liege waffle is a popular street-food across Europe. Served warm, plain and often garnished with chocolate, Nutella, fruit, ice-cream or whipped cream.
We’ve been so fortunate to have met some great people! One of which is Veggie Truckin’! They offer a unique perspective on the Bay Area gourmet food truck scene from a vegetarian angle. They found us on our regular Sunday brunch spot at the corner of Park and Naglee in front Antonella’s. Please read Veggie Trukin’ blog post about Waffle Amore! Thank you again Veggie Trukin’ for the awesome mention on your blog!
Waffle Amore’s debut was at It’s a Girl Thing! We were pleased to be a part of their 5th year anniversary celebration. Here’s what was on the menu: Liege waffles with whip cream and strawberries, and corn meal waffles served with a savory vegetarian chili. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone in attendance for their warm welcome!
